STAplus Connector

CitiObs uses open data standards to make citizen-generated environmental data more accessible, reliable, and reusable. With the OGC SensorThings API and its extension STAplus (developed by SECD and CREAF), observations are grouped in meaningful ways, contributors are credited, and privacy and licensing are respected from the start.

STAplus makes it easier for Citizen Observatories to share data, filter it by criteria like contributor or license, and get updates when new data is available. This creates a stronger, more connected data ecosystem that supports communities using low-cost sensors, improves interoperability, ensures quality and validation, integrates with European infrastructures, and generates decision-ready information.

All data follows FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and, where needed, is stored securely in the iFLINK database. Privacy is built in with support for Self-Sovereign Identifiers (SSI), giving citizens control over their data.
