Music, painting and photography from the Mt Kenya region
Conversations before the artworks
Artists first met elders to discuss water pollution, the protection of water sources and the cultural significance of Mugumo fig trees and Mt Kenya. Morris also met Richard Muraya and the UHAI team to discuss water pollution in the region’s rivers.
The artists developed songs, poetry, paintings and photographs after these conversations. Draft works were shared and discussed at a community workshop in Muranga on 3 October 2026.
